Hair care for my toddler?

almost 2 year old daughter who is biracial. Hates having hair done, any suggestions on styles or products, or care in general.

Its a fight to wash, it comb it, and when i fix it she pulls it down or messes it up.

Take her to a kid-friendly salon, with children's TV programs, and coloring books, etc. Let her select a style from a book with the hair dresser.

It's not that expensive, and it will save you a lot of aggravation.

I went through this with my daughter for YEARS.

She was about 9 before she'd let me touch her hair.

I would give her the options of which shampoo to buy, how she wants her hair done and so on. I think if she has some sort of say in the matter it might help. Even if you give her a choice between two or three different ideas. It helps them feel like they were part of the decision, rather than feeling like you are making them do it.

My aunt just adopted a biracial little boy and she also had the same problem because she did not know how to style his hair. If you are asking about products, regular baby shampoo and detangler work really well, but depending on the kinkiness of your daughter's hair, she might not need to get it washed as often otherwise it will dry her scalp.

My aunt finally got her son to a beauty salon that specializes in that kind of hair, and they gave her the name of some products and tips to use on her son's hair. She uses regular Johnson shampoo for kids...but she also has to moisturize his hair with a lotion called "Pink". I am not sure what it is, but I have bought it a few times at the store for her at her request.

She also got a co-worker to show how to braid her son's hair. She's getting really good at it!

Good luck!

I used to be the same way when I was younger. The part I hated was having my head in the water being rinsed. So my mom used a plastic pitcher that we painted together. Also when you are shopping for shampoo buy the no tear stuff and ask her what one she likes better. (The smell, the color) Then when you are styling her hair ask her what she want. It only has to be 2 or 3 choices. (High Pony, Pig tails, Braid, or Low Pony) If she wants something else she will let you know. Hope I was helpful.
